AGLA Explores Top Universities and Coastal Wonders in Northern California

Day two of the Aveson Global Leadership Academy (AGLA) trip offered a rich blend of education and outdoor exploration. The day began with a scenic hike in Pacifica en route to Stanford University, where students marveled at the stunning beauty of Northern California’s coastline.

At Stanford, the group was warmly welcomed by Alvin, a Stanford student who led a guided tour of the campus. Alvin shared engaging stories and insights into the university’s storied history and exceptional programs, inspiring students to envision themselves as part of Stanford’s vibrant community. The experience was further enriched by a meeting with an admissions director, who provided valuable advice on crafting personal essays and securing compelling letters of recommendation. Students left with a deeper understanding of the admissions process and a newfound perspective of Stanford as a realistic option for their post-secondary aspirations.

The day continued with a visit to the University of California, Santa Cruz, where students strolled through the campus’s picturesque forested grounds while learning about its unique college system and academic offerings. A highlight of the visit was reconnecting with the brother of one of the students, a freshman at UC Santa Cruz, who shared his firsthand experiences.

The day concluded with a festive dinner at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, adorned in dazzling Christmas lights, providing a perfect end to a day filled with adventure, discovery, and inspiration. This immersive experience highlighted the diverse educational opportunities available in the South Bay region, leaving students energized and excited about their futures.
