Alverno High School’s Class of 2016 Set Off on a 3-Day Senior Retreat
Alverno High School’s Class of 2016 set off on their 3-day senior retreat at La Casa de Maria Retreat & Conference Center. Located on 26 acres along the banks of the San Ysidro Creek, La Casa is nestled between mountain and ocean. Now an interfaith retreat and conference center, it was founded in 1955 by the then Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Today the property is cared for by the Immaculate Heart Community, one of Alverno’s founding orders.
Alverno High School wish the seniors well on this exciting adventure that is the beginning of their final months at Alverno!
About Alverno High School
Alverno High School is an independent, progressive, Catholic high school for young women dedicated to preparing them to function in a society as informed, knowledgeable persons, who have the requisite skills to make and implement mature decisions about complex problems. Enlivened by the spirit of its Immaculate Heart Community sponsors, and mindful of the Franciscan roots of its founders, Alverno’s program—academic, spiritual, aesthetic, social, and physical—is shaped by the staff, trustees, and students in light of the world for which the students are being educated. Alverno’s mission is to empower each young woman to be exactly the person she wants to be and since 1960, Alverno has empowered more than 4,500 women to meet that goal.
