Blair and PHS Students Lead Teachers in Powerful Lesson on Empathy and History

Ten students from Blair High School and Pasadena High School (PHS), recently led a 90-minute professional development session for history teachers representing John Muir High School, Pasadena High School, CIS Academy, and Rose City High School. The students shared insights gained from Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) and Pasadena Educational Foundation (PEF)’s Building Empathy project, which examines the connections between the injustices faced by Japanese Americans during World War II and contemporary social issues.

During the session, the students presented their projects and facilitated breakout discussions, allowing teachers to engage with them directly and ask questions. One attending teacher described the presentations as “meaningful, thoughtful, and inspiring.”
