Dodger-Infused Second Grade Classroom Keeps Students Learning
The day after the Dodger’s third World Series win brought excitement to Los Angeles and, in particular, to one Marengo Elementary School second grade classroom.
In a sea of blue and a field of cheer, teacher Holly Lang walked students through how to write a professional thank you note, which they addressed to Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts, and reminded the students of the persuasive letters they wrote a few weeks ago asking Mr. Roberts to add Kiké Hernandez to the lineup. The students also used proof pictures, math mountains, and a fact family to solve Dodger-related word problems. For an additional touch of fun, students participated in a rally chant and a couple rounds of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”
KTLA sent a reporter and videographer to cover the excitement so you may see some familiar faces on the news. We’re proud of our students’ commitment to learning, and this time we’ll add Go, Lions and Go, Dodgers!
