Don Benito’s Christine Sandoval Honored by CFP Foundation for Dedication

Don Benito Fundamental Elementary School teacher Christine Sandoval was honored at a school assembly last week by the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation as part of its Big Day for Teachers. Ms. Sandoval, who has been at Don Benito for 20 years and now teaches third grade, received a $1,000 DonorsChoose gift card to use toward student resources. The Big Day for Teachers is a part of the CFP Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers Week, which celebrates educators across the country. Students, faculty, and staff, along with representatives from the CFP Foundation, the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, and the Pasadena Educational Foundation, joined the celebration. Ms. Sandoval goes the extra yard for students, leading after school programs, serving on the School Site Council, organizing the school Talent Show, and supporting student learning for the African American History Bee – all on top of building positive relationships with colleagues, students, and their families.

PUSD is grateful for the continuing partnership of the CFP Foundation, which partners with districts such as PUSD to promote positive educational outcomes for students. In addition to the Big Day for Teachers, the CFP has partnered with PUSD to renovate school libraries at Eliot, Octavia E. Butler, McKinley, and Marshall, enhancing spaces that are the hub and heartbeat of our campuses.
