Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy Celebrates More than 40 Years of Holiday Joy with Santa Teresita Elementary School

The holiday season at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy came alive with tradition, service, and joy as the campus hosted the beloved Santa Teresita Christmas Party on the Hill. For nearly four decades, Flintridge Sacred Heart has partnered with Santa Teresita Elementary School in Boyle Heights to bring this heartwarming event to life.

This year, the excitement was palpable as sixth-grade students from Santa Teresita arrived on campus. “I’m so excited to be here,” said one student. Meanwhile, back at Santa Teresita, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy’s Campus Ministry Leadership Team members brought holiday cheer with a surprise visit from Santa Claus for the TK–5th grade students.

“This tradition reflects our Dominican values of community and service, creating lasting connections between our schools,” said Rebecca Bostic, Principal of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy. “It’s a joy to see students of all ages come together in the spirit of giving and celebration.”

Rooted in the mission of the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose, this event holds deep significance. Santa Teresita Elementary is part of the Vision of Hope network, a group of schools the Sisters have supported for decades. Leaders like Sister Carolyn McCormack, O.P., and Sister Celeste Botello, O.P., have been instrumental in fostering this enduring relationship.

During the visit, Santa Teresita students enjoyed a vibrant array of activities, from a festive paint party to hands-on explorations in the biology lab. Santa Teresita students delighted us with some fun karoake, filling the Hill with the sounds of the season.

“It’s an honor to see our students welcomed so warmly by Flintridge Sacred Heart,” said Ruth Villaneda, Principal of Santa Teresita Elementary School. “The joy on their faces reminds us of the power of community and the spirit of the holidays.”

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy TOLOGS spent weeks preparing for the celebration, wrapping thoughtful gifts for Santa Teresita students and spreading holiday cheer. The day’s crowning moment came with a visit from Santa Claus, who posed for photos and created memories the children will treasure for years to come.

“This isn’t just about the gifts or activities,” reflected Hannie R. ‘25. “It’s about living out our pillar of service and sharing the true spirit of the season with our community.”

The Santa Teresita Christmas Party embodies the heart of Flintridge Sacred Heart—joyful service, meaningful connection, and a commitment to making a difference. This cherished tradition ensures that the magic of the holidays touches every heart, both on and off the Hill.
