Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy Unveils High School Building Renovation: A Legacy of Love for Future Generations
Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy proudly celebrated the completion of its high school building renovation with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, December 5, 2024. The event marked the culmination of the Legacy of Love campaign, honoring the profound contributions of Sister Carolyn McCormack, O.P., and the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose.
“This transformation creates a legacy that will impact generations of students,” said Sister Carolyn, O.P., who served as president of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy for 21 years. “It reflects our steadfast dedication to nurturing an environment where every student can flourish. Beyond these walls, we have strengthened the foundation of our mission—one rooted in faith, integrity, and truth.”
Key features of the renovation include state-of-the-art classrooms designed to inspire inquiry-based learning, a collaborative faculty workspace, and a modernized high school entrance. Adelina ’25 (Addy), a senior and ASB Campus Minister, shared her gratitude: “Thank you for dreaming of a place where I could be an athlete and a dancer, a student and a leader, a friend and a sister. This construction reflects the spirit of community that first stood out to me when I came to Flintridge Sacred Heart. It’s special knowing that as I graduate, these amazing spaces will be here for my younger sisters, Olivia ’27 and Nola ’28.”
The roots of this transformation trace back to the Vision for Veritas initiative in 2016, which expanded the Mozilo Family Center for the Arts. This initiative brought all visual and performing arts programs together, fostering collaboration among students and faculty. Adjacent to the Arts Center, the newly dedicated Katy Sadler Courtyard provides a stunning gathering space with sweeping views. Named in honor of the beloved former Assistant Principal for Student Affairs and Social Studies teacher, Katy Sadler, the courtyard celebrates her lasting legacy of warmth and compassion within the FSHA community.
“We are profoundly grateful to our generous donors who made the remodeling of our learning spaces possible and supported this transformative journey. We have a space that fosters academic excellence and serves as a sanctuary for growth, empowering future generations of TOLOGS,” said Marlena Conroy, President of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy.
Rebecca Bostic, Principal, echoed these sentiments: “Our donors have gifted the students of today and of tomorrow a beautiful and updated learning environment that supports the active and inspired learning our dedicated faculty works so hard to inspire,” said Rebecca Bostic, principal. “Our community is so grateful for the opportunity to fill these beautiful classrooms with meaningful lessons that will impact the development of our dedicated students.”
With this renovation complete, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy continues its tradition of fostering an educational environment that empowers young women to thrive academically, spiritually, and personally—carrying forward a Legacy of Love.
