FSHA Students Lead Fair Trade Boutique to Promote Ethical Shopping and Global Impact

Last week, students at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy organized a Fair Trade Boutique, featuring Ten Thousand Villages Pasadena, local artisans, a henna artist, a clothing swap, and a bake sale.

Karina ’27 (pictured on the second slide, first from the right), a member of the Fair Trade LA board and the Round Square leadership team who led the event, shared, “I’m passionate about Fair Trade because it ensures fair wages, safe working conditions, and environmentally sustainable practices for workers around the world… this cause aligns with our school’s values and Catholic Social Teaching—helping our neighbors and caring for human dignity. By changing how we spend our money, we can make a real difference, which is why we brought Fair Trade vendors to the Hill so everyone could contribute firsthand.”

The school community is grateful for students like Karina, who apply the knowledge and Dominican values learned at FSHA to take action within their communities.

A special thank you to Juli James, Ed.D., Flintridge Sacred Heart’s Director of Global Initiatives and Round Square, for empowering students to be the change!
