La Salle Honored with Community Partner Award by Los Angeles Regional Food Bank

“In this season of thanks, we are reminded of our school’s commitment to service, most especially giving back to our community and those most in need”.

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank has been mobilizing resources to fight hunger in Los Angeles County for over 50 years. To support the Food Bank’s vision that no one goes hungry in Los Angeles County, food and grocery products are distributed through a network of partner agencies and other Food Bank programs.

On Wednesday, December 4th, the Los Angeles Food Bank honored and recognized La Salle College Preparatory as a recipient of the organization’s Community Partner Award. This award, presented to La Salle students and faculty at the LA Food Bank’s annual Season for Sharing event, affirms our school’s long-standing, 20-year partnership with the Los Angeles Food Bank. At this event, a short video was shared by the food bank, featuring members of our student body and administration, highlighting the importance and significance of this partnership.

Service learning and community engagement are cornerstones of a Catholic Lasallian education in the spirit of our founder, St. John Baptist de La Salle, who gave selflessly to children entrusted to his care. From individual volunteers to class-wide service days, our Lancers actively embrace opportunities to make a meaningful impact, driven by a genuine desire to help others. It’s not just about fulfilling an obligation; it’s about personal commitment to giving back and spreading hope. On the horizon, during Catholic Schools Week next month, like we do every year, our entire faculty and staff will participate in meaningful service and give back to communities most in need.

In the spirit of the holiday season, we invite you to continue this legacy of service by volunteering at a local charitable organization in your community. Our collective efforts continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those most in need of our support and I continue to be blessed to be a part of our Lasallian community.

Sincerely,
Perry Martin, M.Ed.
