Learning Works Welcomes New Principal
Learning Works has officially begun its next exciting chapter, as Jake Gordon, Ed.D., was hired as its new principal. Boasting a wealth of experience in dropout recovery and systems leadership, Jake will spend the remainder of the 2021-22 school year familiarizing himself with the staff, processes and curriculum, so he can strategize, plan professional development, maximize the school’s administrative processes, and use the summer to build momentum for a strong 2022-23 school year.
Prior to joining Learning Works, Jake was executive director at Los Angeles College Prep Academy, a LAUSD charter school. Before that, he gained over a decade of valuable dropout-recovery experience as principal at SIATech, a network of public charter high schools with campuses in California re-engages disconnected students similarly to Learning Works. Jake began his career teaching social studies in Northern California. He earned his Bachelor’s from San Jose State University, and his Masters and Ed.D. from Cal State Long Beach, and holds credentials in Social Science and Administration. He lives within biking distance of the LW@HB campus in Boyle Heights.
