It was Maranatha’s first home match and first league match of the season, with league-favorite, Village Christian, rolling into town. The Crusaders boast a deep and loaded lineup, with the arrival of new accomplished and experienced players.

On the other hand, most of the Lady Minutemen are just learning the game of tennis, having only started playing the game this summer. Despite their inexperience, their progress has been noticeably steady and sure.

Today’s match was eye-opening for most of Maranatha’s players, who had not encountered this level of ball speed, skill, physicality, and aggression before. It was a lesson that they hope they will learn from and use to help them to keep improving.

Maranatha’s lone two wins came from #2 doubles, Diana Sarksyan/Jennifer Chu, who continue to show improvement. They won their sets by the scores of 6-2 and 6-1.

The Lady Minutemen (7-2; 0-1) travel to face reigning league champion, Valley Christian (6-6; 1-1), on Tuesday, in a match that promises to be another valuable learning experience. The Defenders narrowly lost to Village Christian, 10-8, last week.
