PHS Announces Johanna Amaya-Dominguez as its Instructional Coach

Johanna Amaya-Dominguez will now be serving the Pasadena High School community as its Instructional Coach.

“I am a proud PHS Alumni, Class of 2002! The education I received at PHS helped me be prepared for my undergrad years at UCLA. I majored in Mathematics and discovered my passion for teaching through my volunteer work at church and through my tutoring job during college. While I was getting my teaching credential at CSULA, I decided to accept my first teaching job at my own alma mater, Pasadena High, and I have been here ever since! Once a Bulldog, Always a Bulldog!”

After earning two master’s degrees and after 17 years in the classroom, Johanna decided to step into a new position at PHS as the Instructional Coach. The best part of this new position is having the opportunity to interact more with her colleagues and talk and share ideas about how to enhance the learning environment and experience of all students on the PHS campus. This is done by simple conversations, professional development, meetings, special projects and coaching cycles. Teaching is not easy, especially in the beginning, so it has been a great experience to meet all new teachers, across different content areas, and support them in any way she can.
