PUSD: Schools Closed Rest of the Week Due to Eaton Fire

Dear PUSD Community,

We hope this message finds you safe during this very challenging time. With so many students, staff, and families affected by the devastating Eaton fire and mandatory evacuations, we know this is an overwhelming and difficult time for everyone. Our hearts are broken for everything that our beloved community is enduring. But we know that our community is strong, and together, we will get through this.

As a reminder, all PUSD schools remain closed today. This morning, we were briefed by the City of Pasadena Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Due to the progress of the Eaton fire and its ongoing impact, all PUSD schools will remain closed for the rest of the week.

This allows our teams time to assess the conditions of our facilities and for our employees, students, and families to begin reestablishing some normalcy.

Because the District Service Center, where school meals are stored, is under mandatory evacuation, Grab-and-Go meal centers are suspended until further notice. We are working with the City to find resources for our families.

During this crucial time, we are committed to keeping you informed. We will provide updates 2-3 times per day via email, text, and on our social media channels and website.

The safety and well-being of our community are our top priorities. Please stay safe, and know that we are here to support you in any way we can.

Please keep our firefighters and first responders in your hearts as they work to keep us all safe.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Blanco, Ed.D.
Superintendent
