South Pasadena High School Science Olympiad Team Headed to State Competition



On Saturday, March 1, 2025, 30 SPHS students in two teams competed at the Los Angeles-Rio Hondo College Regional Science Olympiad Tournament. Among the 60 teams that competed from 39 schools, the SPHS teams placed 3rd and 4th overall. SPHS has now qualified for the third year in a row to go to the Southern California State Tournament on April 12, 2025 at Caltech! Science Olympiad students competed in six invitational tournaments since September, working hard after school and on the weekends to practice and prepare for competition.

Science Olympiad is an international nonprofit organization devoted to improving the quality of science education, increasing student interest in science, and providing recognition for outstanding achievement in science education by both students and teachers.
