Early Returns Tuesday: Tornek Takes Lead, Williams Ahead in District 2, Masuda Winning 4, Madison Out Front in District 6

[This was filed about 9 p.m. Tuesday night.]  In early results, Mayor Tornek leads three challengers in the mayor’s race. Tornek has garnered 4,066 votes or 47.48 percent. Gordo trails with 3.531 votes or 41.14 percent. Major Williams is in third place with 688 votes and Jason Harden has just 297 votes.

 

Williams Takes Early Lead In District 2 Race

With mail-in ballot results announced first, Felicia Williams was the early leader Tuesday night in voting for Pasadena’s District 2 City Council seat – a race to fill the seat that’s being vacated by three-term incumbent Margaret McAustin.
Williams had 496 votes, or 49.8 percent, as of about 8:50 p.m., followed by Tricia Keane (262 votes, 26.31 percent), Bo Patatian (138 votes, 13.86 percent) and Kevin Litwin (100 votes, 10.04 percent), according to results announced on the website of the L.A. County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.

At the end of the night, if no candidate gets 50 percent of the vote, there will be a runoff in November between the top two vote-getters. Polls closed at 8 p.m.

In April, McAustin announced she would not seek a fourth term.
District 2 includes central and eastern portions of the city, including East Colorado Boulevard between Wilson and Oak avenues, an area buzzing with residential development that has a strong Latino community and a burgeoning Armenian-American population.

 

Masuda Way Out Front in District 4

Gene Masuda opened a wide lead on Joe Baghdadlian Tuesday night. Masuda was way out front with 63.15 percent of the vote. Joe Baghdadlian was in second place with 17 percent of the vote. Char Bland and Kevin Wheeler trailed with 14.7 percent of the vote and 5.68 percent.

 

Madison Opens Strong Lead in District 6

Steve Madison raced out to a huge lead in District 6 per the early results. The longtime District 6 councilman has 1,291 votes. Tamerlin Godley trailed Madison with 759 votes. Ryan Bell was in third with 152 votes.
