Police said a transient who frequents the Pasadena area stabbed a man in the neck Saturday afternoon after attempting to wrest a container of water from the victim.
The 1:45 p.m. incident occurred on a sidewalk at the intersection of N. Lake Ave. at East Walnut Street, Pasadena Police Lt. Anthony Russo said. A passerby after the attack told Pasadena Now it happened on the northeast corner.
Several Pasadena officers on a nearby call were able to arrive at the scene quickly and the suspect was taken into custody. Officers recovered a kinife though to have been used in the stabbing.
The victim, a 52-year-old Altadena man, did not receive life-threatening wounds., He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Russo said the suspect is 22-year-old Yhanci Walker. Walker was booked for attempted homicide at Pasadena Police headquarters.
