Vroman’s Bookstore Closes — Including Online Operations — Until “Safer At Home” Order is Lifted

Pasadena’s venerable Vroman’s Bookstore has closed its stores and shut down its online operations in the wake of the multiple “Stay At Home” orders issued Thursday afternoon by the city, the county and the Governor.

On Facebook shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday, the bookstore’s management said “in accordance with the “Safer At Home” order just issued by LA Mayor Eric Garcetti along with the Mayors of Pasadena and Long Beach, Vroman’s, Book Soup and Vroman’s Hastings Ranch will be closed starting Friday, March 20th until the order is lifted. This includes our online businesses.”

Earlier this week, the bookstore had responded to growing crisis by closing stores but continuing to operate online, offering curbside pickup or shipping of all online orders for only 99 cents throughout Los Angeles County.

“We thank all of our customers for your support and look forward to when we can see you all again. Be safe and stay healthy!?” the Vroman’s Facebook post concluded.”
