The Altadena Library’s monthly Open Mic Night migrates to Callisto Tea House on Monday evening, and the invitation is plain enough: come share your music, story, or latest spoken word poem. All ages and genres are welcome.
Performers can sign up to read a poem, share original songwriting, try out new stand-up material, or step up to the mic with whatever they have been working on. The collaboration between the library and Callisto has become a regular fixture in the Altadena Library’s calendar of programming hosted at community partners, a calendar that has grown while the district’s Main Library is temporarily closed for renovation. The district also runs the Altadena Library at Loma Alta Park, 3330 N. Lincoln Avenue.
The session runs from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 1359 N Altadena Dr. in Pasadena. The tea house carries the date on its own September listing, which reads, in full, “September 14: Open Mic Night.”
Callisto Tea House is open Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., which puts the open mic at the end of the retail day. Walk-ins are welcome at the tea house, and patrons may receive a complimentary two-hour parking pass, subject to availability. The parking lot is on N Altadena Dr. on the north side of the building.
The Altadena Library District runs the night. Bring a poem, bring a guitar, or bring nothing at all and spend the evening cheering on your neighbors’ work.
Open Mic Night @ Callisto Tea House will run on Monday, September 14 at 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Callisto Tea House, 1359 N Altadena Dr, Pasadena. For more information, visit https://altadenalibrary.
