The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens will transform its Brody Botanical Center into a forest of living sculpture during its Bonsai Celebration, a two-day event for both beginners and devoted bonsai enthusiasts.

Visitors can explore bonsai displays, enjoy expert-led demonstrations, browse a bonsai marketplace, and take part in prizes and a live auction, all centered on the ancient art form of bonsai.

The Bonsai-A-Thon, presented by the Golden State Bonsai Federation, serves as the fundraising engine of the celebration and supports the federation’s collection at The Huntington.

The California Bonsai Society, a nonprofit formed in 1950 and incorporated in 1962, presents a major exhibition at the event and fosters bonsai artists and enthusiasts through exhibitions and demonstrations.

Proceeds from the weekend benefit the Golden State Bonsai Federation’s collection at The Huntington, which has been housed there since 1990 and is maintained with the help of volunteers and garden specialists.

The event invites those curious about starting bonsai as well as admirers of exceptional specimens.

Bonsai Celebration will run on Saturday, Feb. 28, and Sunday, March 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Brody Botanical Center, 1151 Oxford Road, San Marino, California. For more information, visit https://www.huntington.org/event/bonsai-celebration.
