Joyce Pan and David Aks will bring their Celtic fiddle and cello music to Pasadena Presbyterian Church on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. The free concert is part of the Friends of Music 2024-2025 season and will showcase traditional and contemporary Celtic tunes.

“Their music-making is full of life, passion and unbridled joy. Because of its origins as dance music the evening promises to be filled with energy and foot-stomping excitement,” PPC said in a statement.

The duo met while playing in the Scottish Fiddlers of Los Angeles, where they were both introduced to Celtic fiddling despite coming from similar classical backgrounds. Their unique instrumental combination of fiddle and cello creates a distinctive take on traditional Celtic dance music.

This performance marks their return to the Friends of Music program, following a previous concert at the church in October 2022, as documented on YouTube.

Pan and Aks have released a debut recording titled “New Roads,” which includes traditional and contemporary Celtic tunes, according to Violinist.com.

While admission to the concert is free, attendees will have the opportunity to contribute a voluntary offering. The event takes place at Pasadena Presbyterian Church, at 585 E. Colorado Blvd., as part of their ongoing Friends of Music concert series.
