A youth-founded ceramics program is opening doors for Pasadena children to explore their creative potential through hands-on clay sculpting. Club Mudd, created by Pasadena Polytechnic School students Mariana and John Gomez, brings free ceramic arts instruction to young people through partnerships with public libraries. The program reflects a transformative vision of bringing the joy of working with clay to Pasadena children who might never otherwise get the chance. Club Mudd operates as a community service where teen volunteers guide younger participants.

According to event information provided, a session at Lamanda Park Branch Library is scheduled for January 21 from 4:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. for children. Registration reportedly begins Monday, January 5 at 10 a.m. Families can register in person or by calling (626) 744-7266.

During the workshop, participants receive a block of clay, tools and various glaze paints under guidance from student volunteers. Volunteers from the high school are described as kind and encouraging to all the kids. The creations are fired in a kiln and returned to them.

Student volunteers from Pasadena Polytechnic School maintain Club Mudd operations. The program has also hosted sessions at Alhambra Library.

Space is reported to be limited due to kiln capacity and volunteer availability, making early registration important.

Club Mudd Ceramics for Kids will run on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 4:15 p.m. Lamanda Park Branch Library, 140 South Altadena Drive, Pasadena, California.
