Foothill Unity Center’s Golden Plate Awards Helped to Make the Future a Little Brighter

On September 22nd Foothill Unity Center celebrated its 23rd annual Golden Plate Awards ceremony. This year’s theme was ‘Help us Make the Future a little Brighter’. The event was held at the lovely and majestic Santa Anita Race Track located in the city of Arcadia.  Nearly 220 guests enjoyed the Paddock gardens as the Center raised money in support of their food, health and social services programs. The goal of the event was to raise $200,000 dollars, and as of today, the event has raised $192,000 with donations still being made online and mailed in.  The event was a huge success for a food pantry that began in a small church closet in 1980. Foothill Unity Center, a multi-service agency, serves as the region’s primary provider of integrated services that help individuals and families move out of poverty to reach economic stability. Our program model helps to advance equity in the San Gabriel Valley community. We are providing access and opportunities, removing barriers for the low-income and working poor, providing a safety net to the disadvantaged to prevent homelessness, and supporting the underserved homeless population by addressing their full spectrum of needs for the whole family.
