The Twilight Garden Strolls, set for July 5, 12 and 26 and Aug. 9 and 16, continue an after-hours program that had been offered to members before expanding to the general public, according to 2024 coverage by LAist. Timed tickets begin at 4:30 p.m. each evening. The gardens, at 1151 Oxford Road, sit in San Marino, which has its own city government separate from Pasadena; Pasadena is a nearby reference point for readers rather than the gardens’ governing jurisdiction.
Most of the grounds will be accessible to ticket holders. The Library, the Art Galleries, the Rose Hills Foundation Conservatory for Botanical Science and the Children’s Garden will be closed during the event, The Huntington said on its event page. Guest passes will not be accepted; visitors need a separate timed ticket for the evening program. Tickets are nonrefundable and subject to availability, and The Huntington asks ticket holders who cannot attend to consider the purchase a donation to the institution.
New this year, The Huntington is adding a drop-in activity on three of the five dates — July 5, July 26 and Aug. 16 — where visitors can make clay pendants from leaves and flowers collected on the grounds. The activity is available until 7 p.m., according to the institution.
Visitors who want a guided walk can add a Twilight Garden Estate Tour, a 90-minute, docent-led outing departing at 5 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. on stroll evenings, according to The Huntington’s tour listing. A tour ticket includes garden access until 8 p.m., or 7:30 p.m. on the August dates.
Two on-site locations will stay open into the evening. The Red Car coffee shop operates until 5:30 p.m., and the 1919 Café stays open later, though sources differ on the exact closing time: The Huntington’s event page lists it as open from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., while Time Out Los Angeles has reported it open from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Food and drinks are not permitted while walking through the gardens, The Huntington said. The Huntington Store stays open until 8 p.m., and questions about accessibility needs can be directed to tickets@huntington.org.
Huntington’s own event listing describes pricing only as “member and public pricing vary.” Time Out Los Angeles has reported general admission at $20, with a $5 rate for members, while a separate listing from Visit Pasadena gives a different structure — $15 for seniors, military and students, $5 for youth ages 4 to 11, and free for children under 4 — that has not been confirmed against The Huntington’s current ticketing system.
