Broadway Gamble Ramble, a site-specific walking tour performance, returns to the 1908 National Historic Landmark after a run last November, and it asks something of the people who buy tickets: guests move in small groups from room to room, climb stairs, and stand for portions of the 150-minute show.
Music, dance and storytelling come alive in a series of intimate vignettes as audiences move through the rooms, Lineage said in announcing the run. The piece draws on community workshops and interviews, with Artistic Director Hilary Thomas weaving true personal stories that lead into excerpts from musicals. The company says “Musical Theatre, like any art, is reflective of its societal context,” and cautions that difficult material is included. All ages are welcome.
“Due to the historic nature of the venue, the performances are not fully accessible,” the two organizations say, telling guests to expect low light and stairs throughout. Audiences must stand in some areas and will navigate stairs and uneven surfaces. The house is not wheelchair or walker accessible.
Thomas founded Lineage in 1999, and the company has produced Broadway Gamble Ramble since 2025. The production is supported in part by a grant from the City of Pasadena Arts and Culture Commission and the city’s Cultural Affairs Division.
Broadway Gamble Ramble runs Thursday, Sept. 3; Friday, Sept. 4; Tuesday, Sept. 8; Thursday, Sept. 10; Friday, Sept. 11; Sunday, Sept. 13; Sunday, Sept. 20; and Tuesday, Sept. 22. The curtain is 7 p.m., except on the two Sundays, when it is 6 p.m. The box office opens 30 minutes earlier. Admission is $54.22 general and $43.82 for seniors and students, both including estimated fees; teenagers with a TeenTix LA pass pay $5 or less. All sales are final.
