The Pasadena Public Library is hosting “All Abilities Community Schmoozendoodle” sessions in July to commemorate Disability Pride Month and honor the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The program offers guided doodling where participants start from basic shapes and watch their creations transform into unique artwork.

“I grew up visiting my local library, and it was such a valuable asset that helped me learn, grow and discover,” said Tim McDonald, director of libraries and information services for the Pasadena Public Library.

The Schmoozendoodle sessions are scheduled for Tuesdays, July 1, 8 and 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Villa Parke Community Center, second floor, 363 E. Villa Street in Pasadena.

An additional session will take place Saturday, July 26 from 11 a.m. to noon at the same location.

All materials are provided and all abilities are welcome, but registration is required online.

The library will display participant creations in an ongoing exhibit at the Villa Parke Library.

The Americans with Disabilities Act is a landmark civil rights law enacted on July 26, 1990, that prohibits discrimination based on disability.

Disability Pride Month occurs worldwide, usually in July, to commemorate the passing of this legislation.
