The City of Pasadena is hosting a full slate of Fall and Halloween activities intended to unite the community and keep celebrations safe for all ages. City departments are collaborating on a mix of fun events and practical guidance to ensure Pasadena families enjoy October’s traditions with confidence.
Throughout the month, children, teens, and families can attend events at Pasadena Public Library branches and parks. Activities include “Art with Jeanette” on Oct. 15 at Hastings Branch Library, “Spooky Fuse Beads” on Oct. 16 at Santa Catalina Branch Library, and “Mini Pumpkin Decorating” on Oct. 18 at Hill Avenue Branch Library. For older kids, “Massive Multiplayer In-Person Spooky Board Games!” is scheduled for Oct. 22 at Hastings Branch Library, offering haunted game nights and light face painting. Additional programs—such as “Creepy, Glowing Jar of Spiders,” “Glow In The Dark Experience,” “Hastings Trivia of Terror,” “Creature Crafts,” and the “Family Bingo Party”—highlight interactive fun and community spirit.
The annual Fall Festival takes place Oct. 25, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Victory Park. The free event features costume contests, games, entertainment, food, and flu vaccinations provided by the Pasadena Public Health Department. On Oct. 30, children, teens, and families are invited to “Boo Bash with the Badge—Trunk or Treat” at Pasadena City Hall, courtesy of Pasadena Police Department and the Pasadena Police Foundation.
Pasadena authorities want everyone to enjoy October’s festivities safely. The Pasadena Police Department said trick-or-treaters should wear reflective costumes or use glow sticks, stay in well-lit areas, travel in groups, and allow an adult to inspect candy before eating. Those giving out treats are asked to light walkways, provide only pre-packaged candy, and respect houses not participating.
The Pasadena Fire Department draws attention to fire safety: do not use frayed or daisy-chained electrical cords, and opt for battery-operated candles. “Your safety is our concern.” The Pasadena Public Health Department urges everyone aged six months and older to get updated COVID-19 and flu vaccines, wear masks that fit well, stay home if sick, wash hands often, and use non-toxic makeup.
Transit options, event details, and updates are available on the city’s website and social media. Each venue provides further information and registration when needed.
