The nonprofit Pasadena Village will host a poetry gathering focused on women poets as part of its Village Connections series on Thursday, March 13, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Washington Park Community House in Pasadena.
The gathering coincides with Women’s History Month and will celebrate the contributions of notable American women poets throughout history. Attendees will have an opportunity to enjoy complimentary refreshments from 2 to 2:15 p.m. before the main presentation begins.
“March is Women’s History Month, a time for us to celebrate the lives and accomplishments of extraordinary, influential women,” Pasadena Village said in the announcement. “In particular, we remember the women poets who have helped shape American poetry – innovative poets Anne Bradstreet, Phillis Wheatley, Emily Dickinson, Sylvia Plath, Gwendolyn Brooks, Ada Limon, Lucille Clifton, Adrienne Rich, and Kari Edwards. We will read their work.”
The Village Connections series, sponsored by Clifford Swan Investment Counselors, is designed for adults aged 50 and older. The series features presentations and discussions led by community members of the same demographic group.
This poetry event follows another Village Connections program on Thursday, March 6 titled “Managing Anxiety,” which features licensed marriage and family therapist Alejandro Bulnes from Independence at Home.
Both events are free and open to all community members regardless of age.
