Senior Center’s Monthly Food Boxes Return to the Holly Street Lot Friday

Published on Sep 3, 2026

Pasadena Senior Center hands out free grocery boxes to low-income adults 60 and older from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday in the parking lot at 85 E. Holly St., the monthly distribution it runs with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

The distribution falls on the first Friday of every month, and September’s is Friday, Sept. 4.

The boxes go out in the lot east of the building, between the center and the Memorial Park Metro station at 125 E. Holly St. Recipients must present identification. A single adult receives one box; a couple receives two.

The boxes are heavy, and the center recommends bringing a shopping cart to carry one home. Its rule on site is flat: “You are not permitted to open the boxes on our premises.”

Each box is built around specific nutritional needs and holds cheese, canned fruits and vegetables, dry milk and other dairy products, cereals and grain products.

The center requires preregistration, and first-time recipients must bring proof of income and a California identification card.

October’s distribution falls on the first Friday of the month, Oct. 2.
