Pasadena will host one of Southern California’s largest annual developer conferences this Saturday when Google Developer Groups brings DevFest LA 2025 to the Pasadena Convention Center. The full-day event features artificial intelligence speakers, hands-on workshops, and networking opportunities for the region’s growing tech community.
Sharad Aggarwal, Global Head of Strategy, Partnerships & AI Solutions at Google Cloud, will deliver the keynote address at 10:30 a.m. DevFest LA represents the collaborative effort of six Google Developer Groups and Women Techmakers across the region, including groups from Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley, Culver City, and Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State LA campus chapters, alongside Women Techmakers of Greater Los Angeles.
The speaker track spans five sessions from AI’s global implications to its practical applications in cancer research and scalable app architecture. Ellie Kuang will explore entrepreneurship in “Building and Monetizing Your Apps.” Bryce Howitson examines AI interaction design in “What Prompts and Birthdays Teach Us About the AI Experience,” promising attendees will “help others talk to computers.” David Haley discusses “Scaling Cancer Research to Billions of Pixels: an AI and Cloud-Powered Approach,” detailing how Google Cloud Platform accelerates medical research. Jeremy Wilken’s “AI Around the World” explores how different nations are investing in and shaping artificial intelligence. Martino Yovo presents “Scaling Apps for the AI Era: Patterns, Architectures, and Tools for Any Stack.”
For hands-on learners, three workshops run simultaneously. Alice Keeler leads “Mission AI Possible: From Zero to Gemini with Google Workspace™,” while Siena Aguayo teaches “Vibecoding with Gemini CLI,” and Bryan Bergo instructs “Building AI Agents with Vertex AI Agent Builder.” The event also features a job fair for students and professionals.
Tickets are currently available for $10 through general admission. Starting Dec. 1 at 12:00 a.m. PST, last-minute tickets will be available at $20.
