Los Angeles County and the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts are holding the free, drive-thru event to give residents a safe and legal way to dispose of toxic household materials that cannot go in regular trash. Open only to Los Angeles County residents, the collection does not accept any business waste.

Residents must keep hazardous items secured in the trunk or pickup bed, separated from other belongings, and bring them in sturdy boxes, preferably in original containers. Accepted items include paint and paint thinner, solvents, pesticides and herbicides, cleaners with acid or lye, pool chemicals, motor oil and filters, brake fluid, antifreeze, household and car batteries, fluorescent bulbs and mercury thermometers, along with televisions, computers and other e-waste.

The event also accepts expired or unwanted prescription medications, propane tanks under five gallons, and sharps in puncture‑resistant containers labeled “sharps.” It will not take explosives, ammunition, radioactive materials, trash, tires, large appliances such as refrigerators or stoves, or any commercial loads. State rules cap each vehicle at 15 gallons or 125 pounds of hazardous waste per trip.

Too Toxic to Trash: Drive-Thru Household Hazardous & E-Waste Collection will run on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Brookside Park, Parking Lot I, 360 N. Arroyo Blvd., in Pasadena. For more information, call (800) 238-0173 or visit https://www.lacsd.org/services/solid-waste/household-hazardous-waste-collection/pasadena-02-14-26.
