
“Lilo & Stitch” is the most popular movie in North America for the third straight week, taking in $32.5 million this weekend, according to industry estimates released Sunday.
Disney’s live-action remake of its 2002 animated “Lilo & Stitch” beat out the “John Wick” spinoff “Ballerina,” starring Ana de Armas, which opened with $25 million, Comscore reported.
“Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” was third with $15 million Friday through Sunday in its third week in theaters, Comscore reported.
“Karate Kid: Legends” fell to $8.7 million in its second weekend for fourth place.
“Final Destination Bloodlines” was fifth with $6.5 million in its fourth weekend.
Director Wes Anderson’s latest, “The Phoenician Scheme,” took sixth place with $6.25 million in its second weekend.
Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases were “Bring Her Back” ($3.2 million), “Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye” ($3 million), “Sinners” ($2.9 million) and “Thunderbolts” ($2.5 million).
This weekend’s overall three-day box office haul was estimated at $113.4 million. The year-to-date total is $3.529 billion — up 26% from the figure at this time last year, according to Comscore.
