Sangam, the chamber music ensemble featuring sitarist Paul Livingstone, cellist Peter Jacobson, and world-renowned tabla virtuoso Abhijit Banerjee, will perform their genre-defying compositions on Sunday, September 7 at 4 p.m. at Sierra Madre Playhouse.
The collaboration represents 18 years of musical partnership between Livingstone and Jacobson, who have contributed to four Grammy-winning albums by Ozomatli, Juan Gabriel, Quetzal, and Ricky Kej.
Together with Banerjee, they perform innovative compositions and improvisations that bridge Indian classical music and European polyphony, moving fluidly between meditative stillness and dynamic polyrhythmic interplay.
