Five alleged Altadena- and Duarte-area gang members face federal weapons charges following their arrest this week as part of an investigation into a long-running violent feud with a Pasadena-based gang, prosecutors announced Thursday.

This week’s arrests stemmed from an investigation into a gang shootout that took place Feb. 17 during a funeral party for a suspected Altadena gang member in Ontario, according to U.S. Department of Justice spokesman Thom Mrozek.

“Investigators with the Ontario Police Department believe the shooting was the result of an attack by the Pasadena Denver Lane Bloods, which has been in a long-running gang war with [the Altadena Blocc Crips] and its allies in the Duarte-based Duroc Crips,” Mrozek said in a written statement.

Surveillance video from the house where the shooting took place “showed that once the PDL members fired the initial shots, at least five subjects from the ABC funeral party ran from the home’s backyard into the front yard and began firing recklessly toward the unidentified PDL members,” according to the affidavit by an ATF special agent, which notes that bullets struck several homes and vehicles in the neighborhood, Mrozek said.

Officials on Wednesday arrested Daniel Corey Roach, 41, of Altadena, on suspicion of illegal possession of ammunition; Lionel Roberts, 32, of Altadena, on suspicion of illegally possessing a small revolver; Tristan Jon Taylor, 32, of Ontario, on suspicion of illegally possessing a .38-caliber revolver; and Shawn Terrell Lyndolph, 30, of Rialto, on suspicion of illegally possessing a semiautomatic handgun, officials said.

Dejon Thomas Nunley Sr., 32, of Adelanto, was arrested on suspicion of illegally possessing a 9mm handgun, according to prosecutors.

All five defendants were described as “suspected members of the ABC or Duroc Crips gang,” Mrozek said.

Arraignments were expected to take place later this month.

If convicted as charged, each defendant faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison, officials added.

The investigation is ongoing and officials are looking into possible connections between the seized weapons and other recent crimes.

The investigation is being carried out under the Firearms Trafficking Strike Force, which was initiated by the DOJ last month.
