The San Gabriel Foothills Indivisible group has organized the “No Kings” rally from 1 to 3 p.m. at 100 Garfield Ave.
The event builds on what organizers, represented locally by Indivisible Alta-Pasadena, describe as a nationwide movement. They say millions participated in similar protests in June across all 50 states and internationally.
“In America, we don’t put up with would-be kings,” according to the organizing group.
The local demonstration is part of the broader Indivisible movement. The organization began as a guide for pressuring elected officials to resist policies from the Trump administration.
Indivisible cites several grievances against the current administration, including immigration enforcement actions, election interference concerns, and cuts to healthcare and environmental protections.
The group also references what they call an attack on First Amendment rights, specifically mentioning the cancellation of Jimmy Kimmel’s show as an escalation.
Rally organizers emphasize their commitment to nonviolent protest. They expect participants to de-escalate confrontations and act lawfully. Weapons are not permitted at the event.
Indivisible describes itself as a progressive grassroots movement with millions of activists nationwide. The organization operates through thousands of local groups working with a national staff.
The movement aims to defeat what it describes as the rightwing takeover of the American government and to build an inclusive democracy, according to organizational materials.
