Pasadena’s ArtCenter has been selected as one of the top design schools in America, according to Graphic Design USA (GDUSA), a leading authority in the graphic design industry. The selection was announced as part of GDUSA’s 60th anniversary celebration, during which it identified its favorite institutions and programs that prepare students for a career in professional graphic design.

ArtCenter’s selection by GDUSA was based on a unique mix of objective and subjective factors, including long-standing relationships with designers, students, recruiters, and educators. The list is national in scope, includes traditional art and design institutions, university communications and design departments, as well as several online or hybrid programs.

ArtCenter was praised for its visionary approach to art and design education, built on a conservatory-like teaching and learning model, and a mandate to offer innovative learning and making spaces. The institution also emphasizes rich, intercultural, and transdisciplinary dialogue, which provides a unique learning environment for its students.

The school offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in a wide range of industrial design disciplines, along with visual and applied arts. Beyond its top-ranked academic programs, ArtCenter also extends its educational reach into the Greater Los Angeles region through year-round programs open to all ages and experience levels.

ArtCenter’s industry ties and social impact initiatives have not gone unnoticed. The school has the distinction of being the first design school to receive Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) status from the United Nations. This recognition further underscores the institution’s commitment to design education that goes beyond the classroom, merging academia and real-world application.

ArtCenter’s alumni have left a significant mark on popular culture and society at large, further validating its inclusion in GDUSA’s top design schools list. The selection highlights the ongoing relevance and impact of the institution in shaping the future of art and design.

With this recognition, ArtCenter solidifies its standing as a leader in art and design education, continuing its legacy of influencing the way we live and the important issues we face in our society.
