Get ready to meet Pasadena’s Police Chief Eugene Harris and learn more about the current goals and achievements of the Pasadena Police Department at the annual Chief’s Breakfast hosted by the Pasadena Police Foundation.

Taking place on Thursday, Oct. 19, the event will be held in the Sofia Ballroom at NOOR Restaurant, located at 300 E Colorado Blvd #200 in Pasadena. Check-in will begin at 7 a.m.; the program starts promptly at 8 a.m.

Chief Harris was formerly the San Gabriel Police Chief before he was selected in Nov. 2022 to lead the Pasadena Police Department. He is the department’s first African-American chief since Jerry Oliver led the department from 1991-1995.

A former U.S. Marine like his father, Eugene Sr., Harris has spent 31 years in law enforcement. His mother, Ruby, worked as a civilian contractor with the Air Force.

Harris joined the Marine Corps at 17 years old before becoming a Los Angeles County deputy sheriff. He served for over 23 years in the Monterey Park Police Department, where he was promoted through the ranks to captain, and was named police chief of the city of San Gabriel in 2016.

Harris currently also serves as president of the Los Angeles County Police Chiefs’ Association.

The annual fundraising breakfast is aimed at giving residents and members of the business and non-profit community an opportunity to connect with the Pasadena Police Chief. Harris is expected to speak about the current goals and accomplishments of the Police Department. The event will also shed light on the Police Foundation’s role in supporting programs and activities within the department.

By attending the Annual Chief’s Breakfast, participants will gain an understanding of how the foundation fulfills its mission and contributes to these important programs.

This year’s fundraising efforts are focused on supporting various youth programs offered by the Pasadena Police Department, including the Kids Safety Academy, the Explorer Program, the new Wellness Program, and the K-9 Unit.

Funds raised from this event will go towards ensuring these programs’ continued success and growth. They will also benefit from scholarships for Camp Pasadena, which provides a valuable environment for youth and young adults to engage with police officers, develop life skills, foster self-reliance, and explore potential careers in law enforcement.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to bid on unique auction items, such as Lunch with the Chief, a Police Helicopter Ride-Along, a Patrol Car Ride-Along, a Training Day with the SWAT team, and other items.
