An attempted carjacking occurred at an Exxon Mobil Gas Station on the 1800 block of East Colorado Boulevard at 3:26 a.m. on Sunday, January 21, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Tim Bundy.
The suspect, described only as a white man with a silver handgun, approached two victims — a 23-year-old Pasadena man and a 42-year-old woman from Los Angeles — who were pumping gas at the time. The man was outside his car when the suspect demanded the woman to get out of the vehicle and leave the keys inside.
The suspect then brandished a silver handgun and pointed it at the man. The female victim called the police, but the suspect demanded she hang up. The suspect then walked away, concealing the firearm and heading north on Allen Avenue until he was out of sight.
Assisting officers responded to the scene and conducted a search, but were unable to locate the suspect. The investigation is ongoing. There were no reported injuries and it is unclear if the incident was captured on surveillance video.
