Pasadena Officer Injured in While Assisting Old Pasadena Security Personnel

A physical altercation in the heart of Old Pasadena early Saturday led to the injury of one police officer and the arrest of a 33-year-old Los Angeles man, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Sam De Sylva.

At approximately 12:12 a.m. on August 2, officers conducting an extra patrol near the 90 block of East Colorado Boulevard saw security personnel from an area establishment involved in a physical confrontation with an African American man.

Officers intervened to separate the involved individuals, De Sylva said.

During the intervention, the suspect struck one of the officers, prompting a physical struggle. Additional units arrived quickly and assisted in detaining the suspect without further incident, according to De Sylva.

The officer sustained minor injuries, including swelling and abrasions above his left eyebrow, but declined medical treatment at the scene.

The suspect also refused medical attention.

The suspect was arrested and booked for assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, and public intoxication. No weapons or drugs were found in the suspect’s possession. The suspect’s name was not released.
