Pasadena Police Officers Earn CHP Awards for Auto Theft Enforcement

Three Pasadena Police Department officers have been recognized with California Highway Patrol 10851 Awards for their outstanding efforts in combating auto theft, the department announced.

The awards, presented under the California Highway Patrol’s 10851 Awards Program, honor law enforcement personnel who demonstrate exceptional initiative in recovering stolen vehicles and apprehending suspects.

Officer Michael Bentley earned his fourth White Pin, a testament to his continued excellence in stolen vehicle recovery.

Officer Ralph Palacios received his second White Pin just two months after earning his first, demonstrating a rapid and focused patrol strategy.

Officer Victor Trejo was awarded his first White Pin, marking a strong start in his auto theft enforcement efforts.

Pasadena Police Chief Gene Harris praised the officers for their “relentless patrol work and investigative excellence,” noting that their efforts not only return stolen property but also disrupt criminal networks and improve community safety.

Named after California Vehicle Code Section 10851, the program uses a tiered pin system—White, Blue, and Gold—to recognize achievements in the field.

To qualify within a 12-month period, officers must meet one of several criteria: recover six occupied stolen vehicles, recover three occupied and nine abandoned stolen vehicles, or uncover a chop shop resulting in two arrests and 10 vehicle recoveries.
