The Playhouse Village Foundation (PVF) announces its formation as a charitable 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a mission to support a thriving urban community in Playhouse Village in the heart of Pasadena.
Playhouse Village Foundation will raise funds and attract sponsorships to revitalize public spaces and streetscapes within Playhouse Village, helping to accomplish top priorities identified by its partner organization, the Playhouse Village Association. Initial projects focus on exciting opening events at Playhouse Village Park scheduled to open in mid-2022, along with enhancing Colorado Boulevard’s on-street dining and pedestrian experience.
“Our new Foundation will help kick-start important public improvement projects and activities that sustain a vibrant downtown community and economy. We can magnify the efforts of the Playhouse Village Association and the City to support Playhouse Village as a great place to live and work” states founding Chair Phil Hawkey, public and nonprofit consultant and downtown Pasadena resident. Hawkey is joined on the founding Board by Vice Chair Marjorie Lindbeck, former non-profit executive, Playhouse Village resident and current Playhouse Village Association Chair; Treasurer Arash Danialifar, Playhouse Village developer, investor and current Playhouse Village Association Vice Chair; Secretary Carla Walecka, former urban planning consultant and Playhouse Village property owner; and Brian Wallace, Executive Director of the Playhouse Village Association.
Playhouse Village Foundation will leverage private donations, grants and community enthusiasm to carry out its mission. The Foundation launched its Inaugural Fund with lead gifts from all Board members.
