David Lamont Hunt-Cooks, 28, and Brittney Chenise Ruth, 32, both of Pomona, are charged with one felony count of homicide each in the Oct. 30 death of Martrell Eric Robinson, 22.
Hunt-Cooks and Ruth were arrested on Jan. 9 and are being held on bail of $3 million and $2 million, respectively.
Robinson was found dead shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 30 after police responded to the 100 block of Painter Street. He was suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives from the Pasadena Police Department’s Robbery/Homicide Unit began an immediate follow-up investigation into the homicide. Their investigation led to the identification of multiple suspects.
On Jan. 9, the Pasadena Police Department’s Robbery/Homicide Unit executed a search warrant in the City of Pomona with the assistance of the U.S. Marshal’s Pacific Southwest Fugitive Apprehension Taskforce and arrested the suspects.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed the charges against Hunt-Cooks and Ruth on Jan. 11.
A motive for the shooting, if known by authorities, has not been announced.
The preliminary hearing is scheduled to be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in Department H of the Pasadena Courthouse, located at 300 E. Walnut St.
