The most significant development: defensive end LT Overton, one of Alabama’s top pass rushers, was a full participant after missing the postseason with an undisclosed medical condition. Running back Kevin Riley also returned after sitting out three games with injury.
The reinforcements come at a crucial time for Alabama (11-3), which battled minor injuries throughout the end of the regular season and the SEC title game against Georgia three weeks ago.
No players wore black jerseys signifying non-contact status except quarterbacks, who always wear black. That’s a strong indication that several players who were either out or playing through pain are now much better off.
Alabama also got its first look at elite incoming freshmen who will enroll early. Wide receiver Cederian Morgan immediately stood out for his size during individual drills. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound prospect wore jersey No. 19 and looked sharp in his first Rose Bowl preparation.
Other participating freshmen included quarterback Jett Thomalla, tight end Mack Sutter, offensive lineman Chris Booker, defensive linemen Kam Johnson and Corey Howard, cornerback Zyan Gibson and linebacker Zay Hall.
The Crimson Tide travels to Pasadena on Monday to begin on-site preparations. Alabama faces Indiana (13-0) during the Rose Bowl Game on Thursday, Jan. 1, at 4 p.m. ET, 1 p.m. Pacific, on ESPN.
The game marks a College Football Playoff quarterfinal matchup in the historic Pasadena stadium, part of the 2026 Tournament of Roses.
