The thunder of snare drums and the spectacle of synchronized pageantry return to Pasadena as Drum Corps International brings its signature event back to the Rose Bowl on Saturday, July 12.
Gates open at 3:45 p.m., followed by the national anthem at 4:45 p.m.
Performances conclude with a Pacific Crest encore at 9:39 p.m. and final scores announced at 9:46 p.m.
“Drum Corps returns to the storied Rose Bowl Stadium with an amazing line-up of Drum Corps International’s World Class and Open Class Corps, including a special appearance by the Boston Crusaders! This is THE premier Drum Corps International event in Southern California,” according to Visit Pasadena.
Corps scheduled to perform include The Academy, Blue Devils A/B/C, Blue Knights, Boston Crusaders, Gold, Golden Empire, Impulse, Mandarins, Pacific Crest, Sacramento Freelancers, Santa Clara Vanguard, Seattle Cascades and Vessel.
“If you like the bands in the Rose Parade, this event is going to blow you away because these groups are doing field show productions at a very high, almost Broadway-like style,” said Stuart Pompel, CEO of Pacific Crest.
“They’re going to see youth performing at their highest level in the marching arts. They’re going to see youth that have given up their entire summer to perfect the production.”
Pacific Crest is Southern California’s only World Class corps and reached its highest-ever placement—13th place with a score of 86.35—in 2024. The group also provides discounted and no-cost student tickets.
According to Pacific Crest’s Outreach Program, Brad Ratliff said, “The expressions on the students’ faces… can be described only as awe struck.”
