
California Boulevard Street Closure Detour Map. [City of Pasadena]
A section of California Boulevard between Wilson and Hill Avenues in Pasadena will undergo full closure for gas service abandonment work, city officials announced. The closure, west of Arden Road, affected traffic Saturday and will again on Monday and Tuesday.
Pasadena Public Works Acting Director Kris Markarian said a permit had been issued to Southern California Gas Company for a service abandonment on California Boulevard west of Arden Road. The operation aims to discontinue service for an end user from the utility’s main line in the public roadway.
The full street closures will run from 10:00 p.m. Monday, to 7:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Officials said the closure is necessary to safely perform the work and minimize impacts on traffic.
No public access for through traffic will be allowed during the closure, however, the contractor will maintain access to all driveways within the closure area for local traffic.
Vehicle detours during the closure will include Hill Avenue, Del Mar Boulevard, Wilson Avenue, Lombardy Road, and Arden Road, as outlined in the city’s map.
Southern California Gas Company has notified all properties affected by the closures, which includes Caltech, according to the City.
To alert the public about the upcoming disruption, changeable message signs will be set up in advance of the closure, encouraging the use of alternate routes.
