One year after earning the program’s highest win total in 53 years, the Caltech men’s soccer team will bring in ten talented rookies as they take on 2024.

Head coach Duncan Gillis expressed his excitement with his newest group of Beavers.

“Coach [Rockne DeCoster] and I couldn’t be happier with this outstanding group of student-athletes joining us this fall,” said Gillis. “We expect them all to come in and compete and help make an impact right away. We’re very excited to see how all the talented first-years link up with the strong returning group that we have.”

The Beavers will strive to top a historic 2023 season in which they achieved a 6-6-4 record and tied for the fourth-most wins in the conference. At the individual level, two Beavers collected First Team All-SCIAC and All-Region honors before one of those players won Co-Athlete of the Year at the Caltech Student-Athlete Celebration.

Meet the newest members of Caltech Men’s Soccer:

Abdul Adeboye
Houston, Tex. / Harmony School of Innovation
Club: Albion Hurricanes
Forward
Adeboye comes to the Institute with superb foot skill and driving ability.

“Abudl is a quick and dangerous attacker who gives us another good threat up top,” Gillis said.

Mitch Agris
Jamaica, N.Y. / Queens High School for the Sciences
Club: Great Neck Soccer Club
Midfielder
Agris brings athleticism and smarts as he heads to Pasadena.

“Mitch is quick and creative and he will really add to our midfield talent,” Gillis said.

Arjun Chatha
San Diego / Canyon Crest Academy

Midfielder
Another midfielder, Chatha will look to make an immediate impact to the program.

“Arjun is a rock solid defensive center mid, with good composure on the ball in possession.”

Henry Gaston
Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park
Club: Pittsburgh Riverhounds ECNL
Defender
Gaston brings a plethora of skills to the Beavers’ backline.

“Henry is a smart and physical defender,” Gillis said. “He also has a great range of passing from the back.”

Quinn Hartman
Huntington Beach, Calif. / Marina
Club: Slammers ECNL; CA Rush UPSL

Hartman will help on the defensive side of the field while also bringing impressive scoring prowess.

“Another strong defender, Quinn’s athleticism and ability to score from set pieces will be an asset for us,” said Gillis.

A swiss army knife, Lee comes to Caltech with a host of abilities.

“Brendan has the versatility to play any role in the midfield, with good defensive instincts but also good vision and passing.”

Midfielder
Qin’s ability to fill in at multiple positions will make him a valuable asset, Gillis noted.

Dean Yao
Philadelphia / Germantown Friends
Club: FC Delco MLS Next
Midfielder
Yao’s foot skill and selflessness will make him a significant contributor to the program.

“Dean is very strong technically, and sees the field extremely well,” Gillis said. “His passing and vision allow him to set up his teammates, but he can also step up and score important goals himself.”

Piotr Zawislan

Another multipositional player, Zawislan can slot in to play multiple roles.

“Piotr is a great athlete, and he can play a number of positions for us,” Gillis said. “Up top his hold up play is good, but he’s also skilled enough to play in midfield.”

The program will look to continue making strides with the addition of these ten first-years, who will help the team significantly as they take on a plethora of high-level nonconference and conference opponents this fall. Stay tuned for an official schedule release later this summer.
