CAMPAIGN UPDATE: Teamsters Endorse Dr. Phlunté Riddle for California State Assembly District 41

Dr. Phlunté Riddle announced on Tuesday that the Teamsters Joint Council 42 endorsed her campaign for Assembly District 41. 

Teamsters Joint Council 42 represents nearly 250,000 workers and retirees across 24 Teamsters Union Locals in Southern California, Southern Nevada, Hawaii, Guam, and Saipan. They represent workers across multiple industries including airline, entertainment, food and beverage, freight, graphic communications and media, package delivery, and logistics.

“I am honored to be the choice of Teamsters Joint Council 42. My husband and my union memberships helped open the doors to opportunity for our family. I believe every worker deserves a living wage, access to benefits, and the promise of a secure retirement. I look forward to working with the Teamsters to create those opportunities for all Californians,” said Riddle. 

Riddle spent nearly 30 years serving Pasadena and honing her leadership skills at the Pasadena Police Department, moving through the ranks as a patrol officer, detective, and community liaison. She broke barriers when she became the first African American female sergeant, lieutenant, and then sworn Adjutant to the Chief of Police in the history of the Pasadena Police Department.

Assembly District 41 is located in eastern Los Angeles County and western San Bernardino County, including the San Gabriel Valley communities of Pasadena, Altadena, La Cañada Flintridge, Sierra Madre, Monrovia, San Dimas, La Verne, and Claremont and Inland Empire communities of Upland, Phelan, Lytle Creek, Rancho Cucamonga, Wrightwood, and Hesperia.

Assemblymember Chris Holden (D) has held this seat since 2012, but cannot seek reelection in 2024. Holden has endorsed Riddle. In 2022, he won the district with 60% of the vote.
