The Pasadena City Council, which usually holds no meeting on Monday after Thanksgiving, will have a special closed-door session Monday, 5:00 p.m. at the Pasadena City Hall.
“Normally, due to the shortened work-week, the Monday meeting after Thanksgiving is cancelled altogether,” City Clerk Mark Jomsky said last week. “There is less time to produce the agenda packet, making it difficult to put together the necessary supporting materials.”
But Jomsky said the council decided to conduct the closed session since there are a “number of closed session topics [that are] pending.”
The council’s agenda on its Monday meeting include discussion with its legal counsel on pending litigation cases such as “Rooney v. City of Pasadena, et al.,” “Aurora Isabel v. City of Pasadena, et al.” and “Sacco v. City of Pasadena, et al.,” as well as for one unidentified potential case.
The city council will also meet with labor negotiators from several employee organizations including the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 501; International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 18; American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees; and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 501.
California Government Code Section 54957.6 states that a local legislative body may hold a closed-door session with the representatives of local agencies to discuss salaries, salary schedules or compensation paid in the form of fringe benefits.
The meeting will also include a conference with real property negotiators Judith C. Chirlin and Gene Gregg on the price and terms of payment for a property at 55-85 South Grand Ave.
