The Pasadena City Council conducted the second reading of an ordinance that will change the regular meeting start time from 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. for closed session meetings.
Beginning next Monday open meetings in City Council Chambers are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
“There has been some discussion about possibly moving the start time of regular City Council meetings to 5:00 p.m. to accommodate schedules,” according to the ordinance fact sheet. “In order to conduct its regular meetings at a different time, an ordinance is proposed to change the regular meeting start time to 5:00 p.m.”
The change to 5 p.m. is an effort to accommodate the schedules of both council members and the public.
During the pandemic, the City Council adjusted the meeting time to 4:30 p.m.
The City Council voted to change the time to allow more people to participate in virtual meetings which were held during the pandemic.
The move was made after Mayor Gordo received requests from the public.
Prior to that the City Council held meetings at 2 p.m. after then City Manager Steve Mermell declared a local emergency.
