Pasadena Water and Power and the State Water Resources Control Board further reduced the scope of the Do-Not-Drink-Water Notice on Sunday after systematic testing confirmed safe drinking water quality in additional areas of the city.

The original notice, initially issued January 8 and updated January 13 and again on January 19, affects residents in parts of Pasadena and Altadena where the Eaton Fire damaged several water reservoirs, tanks, and pump stations, potentially affecting water quality.

Completing urgent repairs and extensive testing, Pasadena Water and Power reported it has significantly reduced the number of affected customers to approximately 4% of service connections.

Residents can verify if their address falls within the impacted area by checking the official map at PWPweb.com/WaterNotice, where shaded sections indicate areas under the notice.

All unshaded areas within Pasadena’s service area are safe for drinking and normal use.

Areas that remain under the Do-Not-Drink-Water Notice are advised to not drink or cook with the tap water. Attempting to treat, boil, freeze, filter or add chlorine or other disinfectant to the water will not make it safe to drink. Officials emphasize that residents should not attempt to treat the water themselves. Attempting to treat, boil, freeze, filter, or add chlorine or other disinfectants to the water will not make it safe to drink. Pasadena Water and Power, with its own operations and construction crews and certified water quality lab, continues to quickly bring impacted facilities back online and perform subsequent water quality testing.

The utility is receiving mutual aid from the Metropolitan Water District and other area water agencies as recovery efforts continue. For the latest Eaton Fire news and updates, residents are encouraged to follow the City of Pasadena on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter/X, or visit PWPweb.com.
