City Health Department Alert: Recall of Select Outshine Fruit Bars, Possible Glass Contamination

The Pasadena Public Health Department on Tuesday alerted residents to a voluntary recall of select Outshine Fruit Bars manufactured by Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, Inc., due to possible glass contamination.

Consumers who purchased an affected product should not consume it. Discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Anyone concerned about a potential injury should contact a health care provider immediately.

The recall includes select Strawberry, Watermelon, Grape, Tangerine, and Black Cherry Outshine Fruit Bars sold in six-count, 2.5-ounce packages, as well as Outshine Variety 24-Count, 2.5-ounce Fruit Bars. The affected products were distributed to retailers nationwide, including stores in Pasadena. No illnesses or injuries have been reported to date.

“Residents who have purchased Outshine Fruit Bars should check their freezers and review the batch code and best-before date printed on the bottom of the package to see if they have a recalled product,” said Manuel Carmona, Director of Public Health.

The recalled products were sold at major grocers including Ralph’s, Smart & Final, Stater Bros, Target, Vons, and others.

The Pasadena Public Health Department is notifying local retailers to inform them of the voluntary recall and support pulling products from shelves.

Consumers should check the batch code and best-before date on the bottom of the package to determine whether their product is included in the recall. For the complete list of recalled batch codes and affected products, see the California Department of Public Health’s recall notice.

No other Outshine products or varieties are included in the recall.
